In 1990 Karen Moran, a granddaughter of Katherine Josephine Sirl, wrote to Gertrude M. Malone (nee Sirl) requesting information re Katherine and the Sirl family. Aunt Gertie responded with a letter about her family memories. Karen Moran's daughter, Kelly Moran, graciously emailed a copy of the handwritten letter to me a few months back.
I've transcribed the letter, adding footnotes and pictures. With the kind permission of Karen and Kelly, I've put the transcription of Gertrude's letter on the website.
It's on the HomePage under the Sirl section and also a link in the Notes section of Aunt Gertie's entry. The transcription is in PDF format, meaning that you need to have the Adobe Reader installed on your PC. I believe that most people already have Adobe Reader but if you don't, it's available for free from Adobe at this link:

I hope you enjoy the transcription as much as I enjoyed putting it together. Thanks to Karen, Kelly, and Aunt Gertie.
If anyone has corrections or additions to the transcription, please let me know.
